As has been recently modeled by others , and modeled by the HCAWG earlier,
there are multiple ways to meet the outlines of the law and yet preserve what
we have today.
If we simply complied with some of the alternative scenarios, we can buy time
to figure out how to expand zoning changes to provide real housing diversity
and opportunities.

The current proposal reduces the amount of affordability we would normally
require, and creates a monoculture of housing in a concentrated area.
It is not a village center, but rather replicates some of the more developed
corners in Newton and Brookline.
What if folks would like opportunities to lives in less dense and more rural
area?

So, if we are to offer expanded and more diverse housing opportunities, let's
figure out how to do it.
The HCA ties our hands.
I personally, would like to see more duplexes and accessory units.
These might be more attractive to families.

Let’s adopt one of the model’s that is least disruptive and create a town-wide
effort to think of a better way to expand housing opportunities that is
consistent with our small town and community values.
