There will be a dramatic increase in private ( large, as in 737s) jet traffic. The proposed hangers are not to house aircraft already parked at Hanscom! It is to expand capacity. It is a money maker. To do so, hundreds of trees will be cut, reducing tree canopy, canopy that are like a set of lungs, and also provide shade/ cooling. In its place, acres and acres or tarmac- absorbing and reflecting heat from the sun. Those planes are PRIVATE jets, designed to carry one to a very few passengers. The impact on the many and the environment to accommodate the few is YUGE.
I suggest you read the expect testimony/ comments in response to the EIR- all publicly available. European countries have determined such private aircraft undermine all efforts to address climate change and air quality and thus have banned such aircraft from domestic flights. This is a move to protect all and future generations. Finally, there has been a complete misunderstanding of the Brinkley/ Walden piece- it was not a straightforward news report. It should have been obvious Thai it was a Op Ed…one noted historian’s view of the impacts of the proposed expansion on a national treasure. Brinkley was pointing out the irony. I urge all to revisit a lovely video again. Sent from my iPad > On Aug 26, 2024, at 11:41 PM, [email protected] wrote: > > I too was taken by the lack of objective journalism by CBS.
