Hi Kerry What version of Director are you using. I would seriously recommend MX 2004 if you haven't already committed. There were a few issues if I remember right with Director MX and Flash video.
As for MX 2004, both Flash and Director, the combination allows for progressive download while MX, both Flash and Director, combined to require that the full video download and load into memory before playing back. this causes some memory issues in Director if memory serves me right. I have an example that I can email you the url (offlist - contact me if you want it) to that will give you a feel for it running off a remote server. It has a page that lets you choose the video then streams it in progressive playback form (progressive download). Once in cache, it stays there so subsequent playback is instantaneous. If you chose to serve up using Flash Comm server then you can get forward seek to get to where you want to be then begin playback. It is a streaming model but much more pricey. It also errs on the side of audio, dropping video to keep audio going. Progressive playback does not behave that way. Sincerely Mark R.
