I would like to know what happens when I use "the machinetype" function

I mean, a PowerComputing machine (on the Mac side of the question) or a
Cyrix (or AMD) CPU on the Intel side.

I've been using this function for a long time and only know realized
that it can be a great mistake (hope not)!

Nothing to worry about. If they're on a Cyrix, it's Intel-compatible. If they're on a PowerComputing Mac, it's Mac-compatible.

It just shows what operating system it's running under. I mean, technically, the only
"PC" was the IBM PC, but a Compaq still registers as an IBM PC.

Don't worry about it. :)
