Hi List

This is more of a general programming query than a Lingo-specific one.

I've been asked to build a search facility into a project. I'm ashamed to admit it, but it's been many many years since I did any programming outside of the multimedia-focused stuff of Director and Flash and I'm totally stumped now on how to achieve this.

From what I can remember, it's going to be easier to index the contents of
these text files and then search this index instead of going through all the files every time I perform a search. Trouble is though I have no idea where to begin, how indexing really works and thus how to go about it.

Enlighten me on the concepts so I know where to start and I can take the Lingo from there!

TIA

Ross
