Isn't there some sort of list rule about blaspheming like that! I'm doing a super high end kiosk at the moment, and amongst the hardware is a barcode reader and a credit card swipe reader (which I'm guessing would read phone cards, or works in a a similar way). The way they work with the computer (both are USB) is they appear to be keystrokes. All you do in Director is watch what has been typed.
