I just started learning Lingo in December of last year, and thanks to a few good books, Warren Ockrassa, Grimmwerks, and several others on this list now feel pretty comfortable with it.
I had a good deal of Flash actionscripting experience, though, and some Javascript. I guess a pertinent question is if you are new to both programming AND Lingo, or if you are just new to Lingo. If you are new to both, the learning curve will be steeper. The book that really turned the light on for me at the very beginning was Director 8 Demystified. I have bought 4 books on Director, but that one helped answer the most basic questions. It also has a Lingo Lexicon (Like a Lingo Reference Guide) that is excellent. Once you get the basics down, I guess your journey will be guided by what you want to do with Director. I am making games, so ADVANCED LINGO FOR GAMES was a must for me, that book alone answered SO MANY of my questions about the more intermediate Lingo stuff. I was only able to deal with it, though, after I got the basics down. I would not recommend it until then. But yeah, I carried around Demystified in my bag for like 2 months straight and just kept reading it. I am still a beginner in the strict sense of the word, but that book helped me cross the realm into basic proficiency. _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com [To remove yourself from this list, or to change to digest mode, go to http://www.penworks.com/lingo-l.cgi To post messages to the list, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Problems, email [EMAIL PROTECTED]).
