At one of my gigs I have Cinema 4D and it works well with Director. In fact,
learning Max got to be a little too much for me with my time restraints now,
and I found C4D to be extrememly intuitive. I mean even today I kind of
stumbled upon how to create splines form bitmap images and extrude them
using NURBS and was able to create exactly what I wanted within about 2-3
minutes after using the help file for literally 20 seconds. (Although
Director 3D does not support NURBS).

But also the exporting to W3D format for Director works very well. I have
exported about 20 or so models into Director just playing with it over the
past week and it is very easy and rewarding. The models, lights, textures
and everything will be intact, although I have not tried exporting
animations into Director yet, but the Shockwave export dialog options reveal
that it should be possible.

One caution: terrains export to W3D very very slowly and you should reduce
polygons before exporting.

As polygon count is always an issue, and they have a polygon reduction tool
that you slap onto a model kind of like a child object and you can decrease
the polygon count of a particular model, or you can decrease the geometry
resolution for all models in the Shockwave export dialog options.

Plus, as Grimmwerks pointed out to me, there is a 30 day free trial for
Cinema 4D...I would highly advise that, then you can decide. Dag. I just
remembered that this is really a lingo list, so this is technically
off-topic. sorry yall but I hope this helps...maybe it will turn into a
lingo question later.
