Thank you much, that was the problem. Under the publish settings it was set to jpeg compression. I turned it to standard and the problem went away. Appreciate the help.

Matte ink and background transparent use only pure white areas to knock out the background. There are a couple of ways you can work to see if it helps you, use a 32 bit image with alpha. Use a 1 bit mask image (mask ink) to remove the artifacts. Use standard compression on the balls vs jpeg.. they will come out larger but will most likely lose the artifacts that you are seeing. Everything looks great and works great in director, however when I publish the game and attempt to play it via the html file it generates, it shows the white areas around the edges, which should be matted out as it is when played in director.
