From previous reading, if the embedded font has the same name plus the asterisk, when the font is missing on another machine Director will automatically look for the embedded one that matches and use it instead. That means I don't have to go through all the text and field cast members and choose the embedded font. Of course, the advantage is that it will use the system font whenever possible and the embedded only as a backup. This has worked as advertised for me in the past. But not now.
I've also noticed some other "bugs" in Director 8.5.1 running under the Classic Envrionment. Dragging and dropping cast members to the score yields a sprite that is only one frame in duration, even though the prefences may be set to 5, 10, or whatever. Also clicking and dragging a sprite on the score yields a copy even though the option/alt key is not held down. This sometimes also happens in the cast when moving members from one slot to another -- copy instead of move. Anyone else seeing these mis-behaviors?
