Buzz, this strikes me as rather gloomy, especially coming from an ex-Macromedia guy.

I was (perhaps naively) under the impression that the wishlist is not ignored, but that multiple requests from unique users are what really counts.
I don't think that's what Buzz meant. I think he's implying that removing the "internal" cast is almost certainly not going to happen, any more than (for instance) it would be likely that a request for all Xtras to be converted to Lingo could be addressed either.

There are fundamental realities about the Director architecture, and the internal cast is one of them. I think what Buzz is indicating is that it would essentially require a top-down rewrite of the entire Director engine -- while breaking ALL backward compatibility to all previous file formats -- to accomplish that.

Not that wishlist items are ignored; rather, this particular wish is ungrantable.
