For what it's worth, software does grow by accretion... things are added on to it, and any removal or restructuring can be very expensive in user experience. (Someone who worked in Version N in one way would have difficulties if that same workflow changed in Version N+1.) There's lots of stuff in Director that you would structure differently if making a new app from scratch, but need to keep in to have it be predictable for people who used previous versions.
