Internal serves as a default, when all other references fail, and if there wasn't one, things might break, but I didn't write the code, so I can't say that for an actual fact.
Submit if if you wish, though I honestly doubt it'll be high on the list. You're the only one I've ever seen complain about it, and I suspect the "it just bothers me" argument won't be enough to persuade them, butchanever know... good luck!

Having done lots of experimentation for openLingo it seems Director needs a reference to the current cast, but that cast does not have to be Internal, it can be anything.
