I am currently in a project in which I am changing (the stage).image on the fly and I want a Flash movie to be able to utilise the background transparent ink. The Flash sprite is not direct to stage, but the transparent part of the sprite does not display the stage image, but the stage colour.
That sounds a lot like the Flash movie had its background filled in to match the stage color. Background transparency works nicely with Flash sprites, whatever was not filled in at all in the Flash movie will be see-through, regardless of the Flash movie's stage color.
