I had thought we fixed that when we moved onto the portable player in d7.
a quick test showed this to still be the case (as far as I can tell).
Here's my test:
1. make one of each: #field & #text (& name them)
2. change the font, fontsize, "B", "I", & "U" & enter some text
3 Save, Quit, & reopen w/that movie - both are as expected
4. empty both with Lingo (member(#).text = "")
5. Save (check them in the editor windows -> they have the style expected)
6. insert new text using lingo (it takes on the expected styling.)
Now granted, this is not an exhaustive test & hopefully nobody uses bold-italic-underscore all at the same time, but as far as I can tell ...
emptying a #field or #text doesn't cause the styling to be lost.
(note: I felt that there was a requirement to name them, so that if they were emptied, they'd still exist (Director tends to 'remove' unnamed members which are emptied).
