That's why Windows XP has a new system restore feature, letting you restore
your system to an earlier point if you did something to mess it up.

Yes, of course -- rather then actually redesign the entire brain-dead registry concept, figure out a way to unhose it periodically.

This doesn't guarantee that (1) you won't restore to a state that was also damaged; or (2) that any changes you made since the last backup (such as installing software) will be retained.

You'd think they'd be able to do better, wouldn't you?
