Does anyone know of a AIFF-to-MP3 compressor that runs under Mac OS 9 and OS X and can be started from within a Director app (e.g. with baRunProgram) and given the filename to convert through some scripting device or other interprogram communication (even dropping filenames into a text file prior to starting the converter would be acceptable)?

Any tips would be very welcome. I need to be able to convert AIFF files to MP3 in the background, invisibly for the user.

Under Windows, I can do that with LAME.EXE, providing parameters to it from baRunProgram.

On the Mac... I'm lost.

I know there's a whole world of MP3 gurus in the Mac hemisphere... I've been to a few Web sites, and haven't found anything that seems suitable--but I may be misreading Mac-speak.

Thanks,

Slava
