I'm creating some sprites at run-time, and
they're showing up with odd colors.

They should be a nice grey color, with a drop-shadow. Instead, the
colors are all over the place--grey, lime green, lemon yellow, but with
drop shadows.

<wild guess> Sometime earlier you allocate this channel to a sprite that needs to have its #color or #foreColor altered and that this setting persists. Can you try setting these props to rgb(0,0,0) in your allocation routine? </speculation>
