>Does anyone know that what is the actual capacity of a DVD-ROM?
I know the capacities of DVD, but there's something I'm not sure
about to do with DVD-ROM, and that is whether a ROM can bridge a two
layer disc or not. Anyway, the rough capacities are:
one sided one layer 4.5 GB
one sided two layer 8.5 GB
two sided one layer 9 GB
two sided two layer 17 GB
At the worse case, you should be able to make a DVD-ROM of 4.5 GB.
You will be shocked to find out that you need to deliver the master
to the pressing plant as a DLT tape, and not as a DVD-RAM or DVD-R.
I'm also not sure at this point whether it's possible to have a
Mac/PC hybrid disc, I'm worried that DVD-ROM can only be an ugly ISO
9660 disc, where both Mac and PC users see all the files related to
both platforms.
If anyone knows for sure, please let me know.
