Ok--I guess I didn't ask the question right. Director seems to only 
recognize fonts that live in code page 1252, and Greek usually uses code 
page 1253. Put more simply, you could have an Arial font with Roman 
characters at 1252, and Greek at 1253. Director would only show the 
characters on code page 1252. There are a couple Greek characters on code 
page 1252, e.g. �, but nowhere near a complete set.

Sometimes you can get around the problem by doing a custom font like 
Symbol. Use a program like Fontographer and create the Greek characters on 
code page 1252.

I agree that Macromedia should pay more attention to non-Roman characters. 
Greek, Cyrillic, Hebrew, Arabic--the list goes on. For some reason, they 
dropped that support in D7.

If you can find a Greek Windows system, you might experiment with D8 on 
that and see how it works. I don't think it will work right, at least not 
for Greek characters, but it might be worth a try. I don't recommend the 
Mac Greek system, largely because it's not published by Apple, and almost 
impossible to get outside of Greece.
