Couple corrections, protecting external casts results in .cxt or .cct (if
shocked) not dcr (those are shocked dir files). However to say that no one
can get into these files is a very big myth. Its fairly simple and
straightforward to prod around and get inside of dcr and dxr files as well
as external castlibs. You can even open protected external castlibs in
director and poke around, the movie files are a little more difficult to
work with. Basically the only thing that is safe is the scriptText as it is
no longer accessible in a protected file.
