Hi Sam

When your designing your project you should never refer to file extensions
in the code unless your developing specifically for shockwave movies in
which case sending a goToNetMovie command requires the .dcr extension for
the server requests. But when developing for non shockwave stuff, you can
omit the file extensions so that when you do an update movie or protect your
files in any way such that the file extensions change your not caught with
your neck in a noose.

Director for the most part will automatically figure out the extensions for
you and supply the correct file for your request. It can however cause a bit
of confusion if you mix protected files and non protected files in the same
directory (but it should go without say that these files need to be kept
separate). The nice part about this situation is that you can create a stub
projector and test your files without first protecting them and still know
that if you do protect them they should still function in the same way. Thus
you have a simple and quick way of testing your project at anytime from
within a projector without worrying about protecting your files etc..

Just my opinion on the matter.

Sincerely

Mark
