I might end up doing that. Something isn't right--is the Internet really
slow these past couple of weeks, or is my DSL degrading? It's taking a good
10-15 seconds to preload 5 seconds of a 40K MP3.

>Are you sure its not reading it from the buffer if the file was completely

Yes, I'm sure about that--I'm watching the state in the watcher window, and
as soon as it changes from 1 (preloading) to 2 (successful preload) I click
the play button. If I click the Stop button, the state goes to 0 (stopped),
and if I let it run out, the state goes to 5 (finished streaming). Click
the play button, and the state goes back to preload. All the play button
does is issue a Play() command. Well, that and some code to control the
buttons' states--a modified version of James Newton's multi-state button
behavior.

Yes, I knew about the streaming. I'm just starting to realize how fragile
the stream is, though. I mean, I'm on a DSL line, and I'm having to wait
forever. This is for an English Language learning product, and I've got to
figure out something fair for the poor guy in Portugal paying by the minute
for 28K access.

Thanks for the help, guys--you got me over the hump! As Irv is fond of
saying, I hate computers ;-)

Cordially,
