AFAIK, scroll bars on text cast members are quite finicky. Anyways, I tested the whole 
thing here and got the same result. But, it happens only when I type the command in 
the message window with the movie stopped, not when its issued thru a frame script, 
while the movie is running. So I guess I'd let it pass....

Put a text member on the stage as sprite X with the boxType of #scroll.

do this:

sprite(X).locV = sprite(X).locV + 3000

What I see is that the text field itself disappears, but its scrollbar stays behind, 
where it was.
