thanks for your answers on my question but what I wanna do is to put
graphics infront of a movie when ever the user presses a button. It's like a
menu that appears infront of the movie, it's for a digitalTV-demo and my
client wants the movie to run smoothly in the background.

But that would only apply to projectors, and you would have to use 
the undocumented windowtype commands to shape the MIAW around the 
video. There would be a white flash as the window came and went on 
some systems. You also wouldn't get alpha or antialiasing.

Otherwise, I liked the idea.
