Custom cursors can be set using "set the cursor of sprite" 
property.  Director also now has a cursor asset: go to Insert | Media 
Element | Cursor...

There are some limitations regarding size, etc.  Another alternative is to 
roll your own, by hiding the cursor and then moving a sprite around in 
response to the mouse movement.

For students, though, I often suggest that you will learn best by using 
either the online help or your reference book and looking up 
"cursors".  Your most important ability in programming will not be so much 
what you know, but what you are capable of finding out on your own, and 
learning to fend for yourself.
