I haven't had a problem with director itself using network paths (ie.
//someserver/file.txt), but not so with fileIO. Whenever my network
tools uses fileIO functions I need to work with files on a mapped drive.

If you don't need to write to the text file then you might try using
"getNetText" or "importFileInto" instead.  If you do need to write to
the database then you're probably better off using a database Xtra
(Datagrip, V12).
