Actually, that's not ENTIRELY true.

You can record midi in lingo with Beatnik, but you have to have a blank .rmf
file playing which gives you a sort of smpte code.  But of course it won't
be as tight as actually creating a fullfledged midi file, as on playback you
need to keep checking your internal note list against the playing beanik
file's 'smpte', and if one is passed, play that note.
