DirectXtras is pleased to announce a new version (2.0) of
DirectEmail Xtra.

About DirectEmail Xtra:
-------------------------

DirectEmail is a cross-platform, easy to use Scripting Xtra for
Macromedia Director, Authorware and Shockwave that provides
applications with the ability to send e-mails.

By using DirectEmail Xtra, Director, Authorware and Shockwave
applications can easily generate and send e-mails as well as
validate e-mail addresses.

Emails can be sent as either plain text or rich HTML format, in
various languages, and can include file attachments.

DirectEmail Xtra can send e-mails through a relaying mail server, or
directly to the recipient's email account, taking on the role of a
mail server.

The Xtra is available for Director 5 and above, Authorware 4 and above,
and is compatible with Windows ME, 2000, 9X, NT and MacOS (PPC).

DirectEmail Xtra is Shockwave safe, so it can also be used with
Shockwave 7 or later and when safety features in Director are turned on.

An auto downloadable Shockwave safe package of DirectEmail Xtra is also
available. It is a compressed, small sized (less than 30K) version of
the Xtra, that can be downloaded automatically from a web site to the
user's local machine whenever needed, and once installed provides
Shockwave applications on the web with the ability to send e-mails.

Introducing... DirectSMTP Account
---------------------------------

Developers interested in sending emails from their applications through
a relaying mail server, but do not have one to use, can sign on for a
DirectSMTP account which allows them to use DirectEmail Xtra to send
emails from their applications by relaying through DirectXtras mail
servers.

New in version 2.0:
-------------------

- The new version can now send e-mails by either relaying through a mail
server, or taking on the role of a mail server and delivering emails
directly to the recipient's e-mail account!

- Emails can now be sent as either plain text or rich HTML.

- The Xtra can verify whether a given email address is deliverable by
connecting to the server that hosts it and checking whether emails
can be delivered to that account.

- DirectSMTP account - allows developers to send emails from their
applications by relaying through DirectXtras mail servers.

- Authentication support. DirectEmail Xtra can now log on to SMTP
mail servers that require user name and password.

- The Shockwave safe version of the Xtra can send emails with
  attachments.

Upgrades:
---------

Developers who have licensed the previous version of DirectEmail Xtra
in the past month or obtained a Corporate license will automatically
receive the upgrade free of charge, via e-mail.

Developers who have licensed the Xtra in the past but do not qualify
for a free upgrade are entitled to an upgrading discount.

Trial version:
--------------

A fully functional evaluation version of DirectEmail Xtra can be
downloaded from our web site: http://www.directxtras.com/ .

The trial version includes documentation and the following sample
Director movies:

SendEmail.dir - utilizes the Xtra by implementing a basic email client
application. Use it to send us your feedback from within Director,
notify your colleagues about the new version of the Xtra, or even send
messages to your cell phone/pager.

VerifyEmail.dir - utilizes the Xtra by validating email addresses.

While downloading the Xtra, we invite you to take a look at the
DirectXtras Gallery - to read about our other Xtras and how they are
being used in real Director and Authorware applications.

We encourage interested developers to download the trial version
and look forward to your comments, suggestions, ideas and any
questions you might have.

Best Regards,
