Fred,
I'm assuming you're running a projector and linking to multiple movies which
are currently .dir files
Create your projector, make sure you have a backup of the original .dir
files, then in Director go to Xtras > Update Movies and choose the protect
radio button. This will turn your .dir files into .dxr files which are not
editable. Make sure that you don't do this to the only copy of the source
code.
The only issue you might have is that your scripts may have been written
with the file extension (e.g. - play movie("movie.dir") ) if this is the
case you will have to go back in and remove the ".dir" from your scripts.
You don't need any extension when calling external movies, just leave it
out.

Security is the main thing I would not like for someone to play with the
files if the computer when down and I could not get to it in time. The
program is in the main entrance of the casino we have security cameras on it
at all times, but we still have kids that come though and play with thing. I
have the only copy on a removable Jaz disk. I was hoping to fix the dir file
so know one can get into it and play or damge the files. I have the program
password to get into, but when the program is not running and the is still
on anyone can play with the cmoputer and the files.
