The problem you talk about is documented by Macromedia and have no
workaround, apart restart or memory upgrade. This is unrelated with
Director, Windows version (i have the same trouble with Win 2K) or video
file format and codec.
Somebody posted a trick sometimes ago to implement a restart shedule on the
computer.
