Using Multiuser Server 2.1 on a Windows 2000 machine with Service Pack 2
installed.
Had MUS working fine for about a year or so...
Installed Sygate (firewall) on my server to block certain traffic, but
set it up to allow incoming and outgoing traffic through port 1626.
(Even tried turning the service for Sygate off-- no luck.)
Aslo have Interscan (virus scanner) installed but turned off the
services-- because I thought it might be the problem.
Was working on a new MU idea when I discovered that I couldn't connect,
so I'm not sure exactly when the problem actually first happened-- but
my best guess after looking at the logs was after installing Sygate.
No luck after trying several combinations of services on/off... I am
assuming it is some type of configuration issue after installing one of
the above...
On the client side I am getting the following error messages in two
different movies:
"there is no current connection"
"errorCode: -2147216214, #recipients: ["AndyD"], senderID:"System",
#Subject:"ConnectToNetServer", #content:<null>, #Timestamp:0]"
On the server, I'm getting the following status message in all
cases/movies:
" [myIPaddress] ? was rejected connecting to movie ? using password ?"
Looks like there is definitely SOME communication going on between
client and server, but something is getting 'jarbled'!!!
Also, tried the "Test your Shockwave Multiuser Server connection" movie
(in the MU support area on the MM site) from the box which hosts my MUS,
and the connection test failed several times.
Has anyone run into this problem, or does anyone know what the heck is
going wrong?
TIA,
Andy Driscoll
