I'm not saying that you can't fool it in some way, but if it does not 
say #online, then you're probably not online. If it does say #online, 
you can take precautions if you want, but going out of your way to 
fool it doesn't mean that it will be easily fooled in a normal 
situation.

Also, no connection test is completely foolproof, after all you might 
pull the lead out after the program has done all the checking. 
Following that reasoning, even if you do successfully download a test 
file, you should always assume that the connect may have broken, and 
be very cautious each time you get something that's on the web.
