Yes, really, but that's not Director that adds some whitespace to the
beginning of mp3 file. Mp3 files always have a number of bytes in the
very begining, that doesn't even matter that original sound had none -
mp3 compression uses so-called 'frames' technologies and will always
add whitespace.
Try to use wave or aiff loops instead, just reduce their quality to
something about 11 kHz 16-bit to save space and compress it's
dynamics.
