I haven't been following this thread too closely because I am too busy, and I am 
afraid Genevieve will suck my into a spiral of questions, but just quickly, and with 
no promise of continual response, moving sprites with a repeat loop is bad because it 
precludes that other things can happen at the same time.

For this reason, it's better to use an event handler which you know will be received 
regularly ('repeatedly') to drive such actions.

So, Genevieve, have you tried something like this:

property spritenum
property MoveAmt

on beginsprite me
  MoveAmt = point(2,3) 
end

on exitFrame me
  l = sprite(spritenum).loc
  sprite(spritenum).loc = sprite(spritenum).loc + MoveAmt
end
