member().filename supports a trimwhitespace parameter (see below)

try

newMember = new(#bitmap)
newMember.importFileInto("1587330.apple",[#dither: 0, #trimWhiteSpace: 0])

& FYI:
there's a bitmap property called:
member().centerRegPoint which can be set.

in this case though, it shouldn't be necessary.
