Yes, something like the AG's Document Verification Service, could be used to provide electronic verification of documents, such as education certificates. The ANU uses the Digitary service, which was a spin-off of Dublin City University, to provide digital academic transcripts: http://www.digitary.net/ However, this system seems to just provide facsimiles of paper documents. You still have to transcribe the information manually into an application to enroll or get a job, for example, and then someone else has to manually check what you typed against the transcript from the institution. -- Tom Worthington FACS CP, TomW Communications Pty Ltd. t: 0419496150 The Higher Education Whisperer http://blog.highereducationwhisperer.com/ PO Box 13, Belconnen ACT 2617, Australia http://www.tomw.net.au Liability limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation Adjunct Senior Lecturer, Research School of Computer Science, Australian National University http://cs.anu.edu.au/courses/COMP7310/ _______________________________________________ Link mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.anu.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/link
