It is probably either running into CPU quota issues, or the server itself cannot cope with that many simultneous users. The solution is to talk to the hosting people and ask what to do. At very least they should be able to tell you conclusively whether it is a bandwidth issue or a CPU-power issue (or something else). They may have a product that will provide more of what you need. If not, you will need to seek advice and get your site onto a host with more oomph and/or more bandwidth. Whichever way you slice it it will cost more. A low-tech solution would be to purchase more low-cost web hosting packages from different web hosting companies (these days it's down around 5-10 per month) and spread the website across them. You need a good web maintainer to keep that in order. And it doesn't help much if there is just one popular part of your site (e.g. a forum) that doesn't lend itself to splitting.
