A MobileOK check indicates the page is 4MB, which is a bit big: http://validator.w3.org/mobile/check?task=20150213000523142.mobile2&docAddr=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.theshedonline.org.au%2F The problem is not the HTML, which is only 69KB. The CSS is a bit big at 58KB (and has syntax errors). But the main problem is the images at 4MB are about ten times the size they need be (and there are a lot of images). Given the demographic the men's shed is aimed at, it might also be a good idea to make the site accessible. The AChecker accessibly test reports 11 known problems and 386 potential problems: http://achecker.ca/ Also there are 24 HTML errors. It may not speed the page up, but fixing these couldn't hurt: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.theshedonline.org.au%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0 To see how to fix the problems follow the links from the test tools. ps: I tried to run a Web Page Test, but the web server was so slow the test failed: http://www.webpagetest.org/ -- Tom Worthington FACS CP, TomW Communications Pty Ltd. t: 0419496150 The Higher Education Whisperer http://blog.highereducationwhisperer.com/ PO Box 13, Belconnen ACT 2617, Australia http://www.tomw.net.au Liability limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation Adjunct Senior Lecturer, Research School of Computer Science, Australian National University http://cs.anu.edu.au/courses/COMP7310/ _______________________________________________ Link mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.anu.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/link
