Do you also know whether there is a physical limitation to the
distance between the modem and router? I am asking because I live in a
converted warehouse and want the wireless router to be near the back
half of the property not the front where the telco cabinet is. I have
been told by TPG that the router must be plugged in to the same power
point as the modem but for the life of me, can not work out why. If
this is a real limitation, my thought is to purchase a powered
router/switch and install that on the telco cabinet, and run an
ethernet cable to my wifi router.
I can't think why TPG would say that, except that it might simplify
things for their customer support people if customers have to call for help.
The NCD is connected to the router with Ethernet, so the standard
distance limit of 100m applies.
