Hi,

Im am trying to IPL a Linux-2.4.7-System with the VM-Reader. I need a
ramdisk to initialize the LVM, I want to have an logical volume as the
root-fs.

Trying to IPL the system with a ramdisk-image brings me to following
errors:

#Warning: unable to open an initial console.
#dasd:/dev/dasda(94:0),0100@0x2:ioctl 0x00005310=0'0x53'16(0) data   9dfc38
#
#reiserfs: checking transaction log (device 5e:01) ...
#Using r5 hash to sort names
#ReiserFS version 3.6.25
#VFS: Mounted root (reiserfs filesystem) readonly.
#change_root: old root has d_count=2
#Trying to unmount old root ... okay
#Freeing unused kernel memory: 13k freed
#Warning: unable to open an initial console.
#Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.
#HCPGIR450W CP entered; disabled wait PSW 000A0000 800115E8

For testing, I used the old working filesystem on a dasd without lvm.

My parmfile:

dasd=0100,0200,0301-0306 root=/dev/dasda1

The Parmfile

dasd=0100,0200,0301-0306 root=/dev/rootvg/rootlv

did not work either, linuxrc on the ramdisk-image found the Volume-Groups,
but the kernel somehow did the pivot_root incorrectly.

I created the ramdisk with lvmcreate_initrd.

It seems to work when i do the pivot_root in the linuxrc-script of the
ramdisk image, but that is not what i want to do.

With regards,
