Hello mailing list people,=20
Our customer has 100+ servers (Unix, NT-Intel, Linux-Intel) and
they are having trouble keeping up with the ever increasing workload.=20
Until now they just added servers when more was required, but they have rea=
lized that one day they will need to consolidate one way or another.=20
(By the way the linux servers they are using are handling basic operations,=
nothing fancy. But they are familiar with using=20
linux, so that's good.)
They have inquired about Linux on top of z/VM and we have provided=20
answers, but they are still not convinced of Linux's stability and=20
VM's stability. What they worry most about is "how will we recover=20
the linux farm if the underlying VM goes down?"
I've read some HA solutions about Linux+VM in the redbooks but do
you have anything that's more down-to-earth? Something that has=20
actually been done to solve this VM-crash
scenario? The customer is quite willing to consolidate if they can be assur=
ed of Linux+VM's high availibility.=20
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
