We are using 1500 for the MTU We have applied the following PTF's to zVM 01/10/02 Applied VM PTF's Hipersockets PTFs (UM30225 for CP and UQ61461 for TCP/IP) Plus UM30140. And UM30114 for VM abend with Linux guests.
