                Jammie,

Others have given you some good advice on what you need
to do regarding the
chandev layer, etc. My concern is that you haven't done
the prep work of
downloading the LCS module from the IBM web site, and
copying it to the
initrd file before IPLing your installation files.
(Hence the "no lcs
                module found" message.) Have you?

Did not catch that. Thought since SuSE 7.0 installed did
not need. However, after reading more I find it is necessary. Thanks!
I'll get it.

As far as SuSE SLES 7.2, goes, apparently you've missed
much of the
discussion on that topic over the last month or so. You
can obtain SuSE 7.2
on CD for free for a trial, but for production work,
SuSE is requiring that
you purchase a support contract from them. To get the
trial CDs, contact
[EMAIL PROTECTED] If you want to check out their beta
code, it can be
                downloaded from
ftp://nozzle.suse.de/pub/suse/s390/sles7-beta/31-bit/

Yes, I did read this. I just joined the list a week or
so ago and have been trying to install/test whilst reading. This list is
most informative. Thank you all.

Subject: RH 7.2 install - lcs issue

I am trying to install RH 7.2. I have an OSA Ethernet
and when it asks
for the I/O communications, I tell it lcs0,0x202,1.
                I get:
                error: no lcs module found
                SIOCSIFADDR: no such device
                man chandev

                My HOST=<name>:eth0:<IP>:1500
                I have tried eth0,0x202,1
                then, eth0,0x202,0x203.
I've done the same except for using lcs0 and still get
the same results.

Note: I did install SuSE 7.0 earlier and had few
problems but none with
the OSA. I would prefer to stay with SuSE (easier to
install) but want
the 2.4 kernel. How do I upgrade my current SuSE? Where
do I find it?
I've gone to the SuSE ftp site and they still have the
7.0 2.2.16
kernel. Therefore I'm after RH 7.2.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!
