Mark, Thanks for the references. I've used the ISP/ASP book - it's very good.
I will pursue implementing the PuTTY or TeraTerm with the OpenSSH - it will complement the firewall we're putting up for an external customer that wants to play with us during our trial. Thanks for the recommendations. As to my lack of training, hopefully I'll get that before we build some "real" systems (this is just a trial - all throw-away). I'm sure I could save myself some headaches by just re-installing the Linux systems when I want to make a change... the cookbook works just fine....but what would I have learned? If and when we install Linux in a production environment, we'll need to be able to create effective cloning and update procedures. So, I'm aware that I need some training, especially to see how the rest of the world manages their systems, but I'm learning a lot and having fun on the job. Not a bad deal.
