Right. The question that deals with the addresses needs 'lcs0' because that
goes into the
/etc/chandev.conf and the other things use 'eth0' because that is the
network device that
the lcs.o driver registers.
Forget what you know about how the driver worked on Linux-2.2 kernels
because the
channel device layer changed the way parameters are passed to these drivers.

If you're sure that your device is indeed entry 0 in the MP3000 LAN devices
table,
then the response you listed should work.
