I have a zVM Linux image I would like to try to IPL it in an LPAR by
itself.

User direct looks like this:
USER SUSE7 SUSE7 1100M 1100M
 INCLUDE IBMDFLT
  OPTION QUICKDSP
 IUCV ANY
 IUCV ALLOW
 IPL 211
CONSOLE 01F 3215
LINK FTPSERVE 592 198 RR
MDISK 191 3390 2188 30 VVOL07 MR
MDISK 211 3390 1 2609 VVOL20 MR
MDISK 211 3390 1 2609 VVOL20 MR
MDISK 212 3390 1 3338 VVOL21 MR
MDISK 213 3390 2610 729 VVOL20 MR
MDISK 311 3390 3309 30 VVOL04 MR

My /boot/parmfile looks like:
suse7:/boot # cat parmfile
dasd=0213,0211 root=/dev/dasdb1 noinitrd

I am assuming that what I have to do to make this IPL directly into an
lpar would be to change the Virtual Address to real addresses
/boot/parmfile. I am also using IUCV and zVM for TCPIP connecting to the
machine I would also think I have to modify that to another IP address
(I am thinking tha address of zVM ).

Am I on the right track here or do I need to tweek more stuff?

The reason why I am doing this is to test the performance of a
stand-alone linux as it compares to a zVM linux. Has anyone out there
tried this?, is there a lot of zVM overhead that would effect Linux
performance?.

Thanks,
Bill
