My understanding is that the old, old, old, _real_ 3380 devices don't
support ECKD, which is necessary for support in Linux/390. If those are
indeed that type of device, then I believe you are out of luck.

Subject: DASD layout error

Hello everybody,

I hope that my problem may prove relatively simple for those more
experienced than me...

I use old 3380 DASD's.
My RedHat 7.2 doesn't want to make use of them because:
"No records after VTOC ! Volume has incompatible layout."

And another message says that the volumes are of 3380/1E type whereas
the expected type is 3380/00.

Could anyone please explain to me what to do ? I tried 'INSTALL" and
"INIT" from ICKDSF but it did not change anything.

I will appreciate any suggestions.

Maciek
