I think monday morning I'll give it back to the users and so we'll see, if it will pass even this stress test. I would suggest trying my patched samba package set, available at: ftp://people.redhat.com/dsainty/s390/ These packages should be identical to those you have already, with the exception that there is an added patch to disable use of the dnotify system call.
