They perhaps _do_ understand that 38% of IBM's net income is from proprietary software 
- which
has a gross margin of over 86%.  However elegant and intellectually satisfying the 
open source
concept is, the jury's still out on when (or whenever) it's going to start paying the 
rent on
Armonk.
